Information (Berlin album). Studio album by Berlin. Information is the first album by Berlin, released in 1980 by Vinyl Records. It was recorded during the period when Terri Nunn had temporarily left the band to pursue an acting career and Virginia Macolino performed the lead vocals. Several songs were written by previous lead singer Toni Childs who went solo prior to the album's release.
Berlin is the third solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in July 1973 by RCA Records. A concept album, Berlin tells the story of a couple's struggle with drug addiction and abuse. Initially, critical reception was mixed but appraisals of the album have warmed over the years: in 1973 Rolling Stone declared the album "a disaster" but in 2003, the album was ranked No. 344 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
The band released the 1980 album Information, with Macolino as lead vocalist, but the band struggled signing with a mainstream label without Nunn. As band manager, Perry Watts-Russell explained, "Unfortunately, the record labels that had shown interest in December 1979, when Terri was the singer, were no longer keen to sign the band. Berlin was featured on the VH1 show, Bands Reunited where the roughly pre-Love Life era lineup of the band (John Crawford, Terri Nunn, David Diamond, Ric Olsen, Matt Reid and Rod Learned) agreed to reunite as a band and as friends.
