The big takeaway: Swift has completed a new album, her follow-up to 2012's characteristically blockbusting "Red. The record is called "1989," which was the year she was born. It comes out Oct. 27. Co-written and co-produced by the singer with Max Martin and Shellback (the same team behind her hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"), "Shake It Off" is an uptempo pop song in which Swift assures the haters and the heartbreakers that they're no match for her. "I keep cruising, Can't stop, won't stop moving," she sings over percussive horn jabs, "It's like I got this music in my mind saying it's gonna be all right

Only Paul McCartney, with 32 and John Lennon with 26, have achieved more. 1989 is Taylor Swift's first official pop album, and is titled after the year that the singer was born. The record's pop sensibilities center on the music of that era. "I was listening to a lot of late '80s pop music and how bold those songs were and how that time period was a time of limitless possibilities," she said. In thinking about that, this album is a rebirth for me. This is my very first documented, official pop album

Shake It Off. Taylor Swift. Produced by Shellback & Max Martin. Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. I shake it off, I shake it off.
Shake it Off is catchy, but not her best work. At her best, Swift is a moody, introspective weirdo - as she said today: All I think about are metaphors and cats. She’s a gifted writer, but Shake It Off doesn’t show off her talent. Lyrically, it expresses lazy sentiments like haters gonna hate. Swift says 1989 is the most sonically cohesive album that she’s made. Another bonus: The cover of 1989 is a Polaroid of Swift herself, and each copy of the album will come with a packet of 13 different Polaroids (even if many of her fans have likely never seen a Polaroid before). Taylor could have a second career as a daytime talk show host.
