In 1971, Labelle were invited to record backing vocals to a covers album being recorded by Laura Nyro. The resulting album, Gonna Take a Miracle, led to the group reaching the charts for the first time, while also establishing a rapport with Nyro, who later invited them to perform with her at Carnegie Hall. In 1973, they recorded an album for RCA Records titled Pressure Cookin', featuring a wildly interpretive covers medley of the songs "Something in the Air" and "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". It was around this time that Labelle changed up their act again . In 1995, the trio reunited again for the dance single, "Turn it Out", for the soundtrack to the film, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. The song became their first charted hit in nineteen years peaking at number-one on the Billboard dance singles chart.
Smokey - Don't Turn Out Your Light. Patti Labelle - Turn It Out (Frankie Knuckles The Bomb Mix). The Riotous Brothers - Don't Turn Around.
The remainder of the songs were either written by all three of the group's members or individually. Four of the songs featured on Turn It Out were recorded at live performances and sound pretty good except for one aspect that's lacking in each of the songs: a strong drum presence. Hip-hop is another unquestionable influence on Soulive that the listener would be able to perceive if the drums were more prominent in the mixes of these songs.

Patti LaBelle recently announced she was introducing her own line of frozen pies at WalMart earlier this month, just in time for Thanksgiving. However, between her show on the Cooking Channel, Patti LaBelle’s Place and her concert appearances, she hasn’t been aggressively promoting it. Now, she doesn’t have to give it another thought. The single from her 1983 album, I'm in Love Again marked a bit of a comeback for the singer. This song was her first ever solo single to hit Number One on the Billboard R&B chart and crossed over to the Top 100. The album went gold but the song was a lasting hit and became a staple of her concerts.
Patti LaBelle pushes everything she sings over the top, from her early-Sixties hits with the Bluebelles through her politically minded Seventies records with her space-funk trio, LaBelle - including the French Quarter funk of "Lady Marmalade," from 1975 - to the past few decades' solo albums. She has inspired generations of soul singers - a pre-fame Luther Vandross was the first president of her fan club. Allman's mournful wail comes out on Allman Brothers standards like "It's Not My Cross to Bear" and "Whipping Post. Dwight Yoakam says Allman's white-blues tradition goes back to Hank Williams. By the turn of the century, the broad, emotive sweep of Thom Yorke's voice had made him one of the most influential singers of his generation.
