Richard D. James brought his merry prankster vibes to Brooklyn and into the alternate future. As a teen prone to wearing KMFDM t-shirts and sneaking into goth clubs underage, I’d learned to blindly trust certain record labels, regularly spending my minimum wages on the sounds of perturbed Europeans. Did it matter that Warp artist Chris Clark wasn’t another secret Aphex project? Does it matter now that The Tuss ultimately was? My visits to the We Are The Music Makers forum, an enduring hub for AFX obsessives, and other like-minded forums grew less and less frequent as my interest in participating in these discussions waned.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out- Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for m. the people who were put in the camps then were Communists. Who cared about them? We knew it, it was printed in the newspapers. The persecution of the Jews, the way we treated the occupied countries, or the things in Greece, in Poland, in Czechoslovakia or in Holland, that were written in the newspapers. Baldwin, James (7 January 1971). Open Letter to my Sister, Angela Davis". Quotation: "If they come for me in the morning, they will come for you in the night.

And then, as I was walking home today, I thought of making my own list. This time, instead of writing vague general descriptions, I’ll try to write realistic and specific ones. Note: I don’t guarantee that these same signs would apply to anyone else. I don’t want to seem too into you but I don’t want to sound like I don’t really care. And I also think about over-thinking because I don’t want to seem like I’m over-thinking about replying to you (even if I probably am). 8. I would never ever ever tease the two of us as a thing. I can tease you about a lot of things just not about this one because then, I couldn’t stop my KV from coming out. 9. I write about you.

I Care Because You Do is the third studio album by electronic musician Richard D. James under the alias Aphex Twin, released on 24 April 1995. The album contains tracks recorded between 1990 and 1994, and marked James's return to a percussive sound following the largely beatless Selected Ambient Works Volume II (1994). The cover artwork is a self-portrait by James.

I cared about making sure life never felt stale, and no Friday or Saturday night was left open on my calendar. I cared about keeping my cool around my crushes. If I liked you, I was usually too shy, too proud, and too awkward to let you know. But I don't care about any of those things anymore. Mostly, because as an almost-30-year-old, I have more important things to care about, like taxes, paying rent in New York City, and trying to put my best self forward in my long-term relationship. So one Friday night, spent gladly alone on my couch watching reruns of Gilmore Girls, I had a thought.

James was on his own for a few days now. His wife Anja, (1) is Dutch, had had to go to Holland (2) business. Although James was quite (3) of cooking, it was Anja who usually cooked for them both and (4) she had left, she had bought three meals for him (5) he only had to heat up. This meant that there would be (6) one day when James would have to make his own meal. He had decided on a tuna salad and toast - easy enough. But she is weird, Cat insisted. Her front door was wide open when I got off the bus today, and she was carrying rocks into her house. Did you have a good day? OK, answered Cat. She really had had a good day, but she wasn’t sure how friendly to be with this strange lady who dug in her garden in December.

It’s really weird for me because I've been on the other side of it. Like, I'm 15, I know what it's like to be an insane fan of someone and to love someone's work, or to just have someone not know you exist. I feel like it's such a passion and the fact that people feel that way about me is so insane. It's really special for me. I don't like to call them my fans because they're my family; they're the only reason I'm anything. And it's like, yeah, but why do you care? But people meet me and then they'll tell me things that are like, ‘Billie you got me through this,’ and they'll explain what happened and how I helped and literally, I just got shivers thinking about it, because it's something that I do because I love it. That's the only reason I do it, and that can change somebody's life, which is freaking crazy.
