David Morales' solo production debut came in 1993 with the Mercury Records album David Morales & The Bad Yard Club, The Program. In 1998, he released Needin’ U on the Def Mix label, DMI Records, under the alias The Face. The track licensed to Mercury Records UK soon became a Dance Record and video which is still being licensed and covered around the world. Ultra Records released Morales’ second album entitled Two Worlds Collide in 2005. The single "How Would You Feel" was performed by Lea Lorien  . David Guetta's song Stay (Don't Go Away) featuring Raye samples Morales' remix of Jamiroquai's Space Cowboy.

In 1998, under the pseudonym 'David Morales presents The Face', he released his biggest hit to date, "Needin' U". Featuring samples from The Chi-Lites' "My First Mistake" and Rare Pleasure's 1976 release "Let Me Down Easy", which had been the backbone of British band Spearmint's single 'A trip into space' released only months before "Needin' U". Morales' record.
