If These Trees Could Talk is an instrumental post-rock band from Akron, Ohio. The band self-released their self-titled debut EP in 2006. Independent record label The Mylene Sheath re-released the EP on vinyl in 2007, and went on to release the band's debut studio album, Above the Earth, Below the Sky, on vinyl also, in 2009. The band self-released their second album Red Forest in March 2012, whilst the album's vinyl release went through Science of Silence Records.

ITTCT first album is a piece that every post-rock fan would love from the slow and soaring intro til the late notes of "When the Big Hand Buries the Twelve". After the first hypnotic two minutes, arrives to our ears the majestic and powerful "The First Fire", a piece full of heavy riffs but still nostalgic between drums that break through soaring sonic landscapes. In a slowly dying genre of music, IF THESE TREES COULD TALK demonstrate considerable potential to become one of its leading contributors. For one expecting something a fresh taste of ideas out of this album, he will find disappointment.

This was their first album and one I got after seeing them live in Akron (their hometown). This album will make you fall in love with the whole genre, but you will be hard-pressed to find a band as good as them or a first album as good as this. I love to go to compilations and look up the groups I like. If These Trees Could Talk came up and was I glad I found them! A clone of Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You, sure, but just plain excellent playing and composition. They compare favorably to April Rain, another great group of post-rock music; the two groups are very similar, and both are simply great.

markgrein44 Amazing compositions! You guys have totally inspired my playing, and my life. We are a struggling but proud band in Prague, Czech Republic, called Future Gravity, and would love to open for you if you play this part of the world anytime soon :) Keep up the excellent, inspiring work! OysterHoister. OysterHoister This is one of my favourite post rock albums. A lot of variation between tracks and a lot of good tunes.

Since the first EP, Zack has always been instrumental is capturing the sound that we strive for. He took great care to not use overdubs or samples on any of the drums to keep the natural feel alive as much as possible. We even worked up a mix where the drums were sampled and tossed it aside. Even though The Bones of a Dying World took four years to make, it sounds fresh and exciting. Songs like contemplative "The Here and Hereafter", the picturesque "Swallowing Teeth", the rocker "Earth Crawler", the progressive "Berlin", and the seven-minute nostalgia bomb "One Sky Above Us" are new ground for If These Trees Could Talk. Individually or as sets of music, the Akronites' new songs contain an indomitable spirit for adventure, where they effortlessly project awe, hope, or longing - without lyrics or vocals.
