If listening to Scribble Mural Comic Journal could be likened to watching a horror flick made in the 1950s, Ben Daniels would be a skinny teenage genius in a baggy lab coat, his twin sisters Lauren and Robin would be his eerie assistants clad in go-go boots, and the album itself would be his robot bride. In other words, A Sunny Day in Glasgow's debut is ambitious to the point of becoming monstrous; it strides right past the pop-oriented shoegaze material of the preceding EP and dives right into the sometimes miry tangle of Ben's auditory imagination

A Sunny Day in Glasgow are a shoegazing band from Philadelphia and Brooklyn and Sydney, Australia formed in 2006 under the vision of Ben Daniels. Daniels remains the only consistent member of the band whilst other have come and gone. Burnside is please to offer several of their titles from throughout their career. You can see threads of later experimentations throughout the album and, from my own experience, it makes a great trip CD due to the atmosphere it provides. is a solid foundation piece and, really, a great gateway to ASDiG.
A Sunny Day In Glasgow's 2007 début, Scribble Mural Comic Journal, was a charming piece of psych-pop, drawing plaudits from all the usual suspects who like that sort of thing 's lynchpin, Ben Daniels. Two years on, and success has given Daniels a budget to match his ambition, allowing him to assemble an expanded corps of musicians in a larger studio
Since their freewheeling 2007 debut Scribble Mural Comic Journal, A Sunny Day in Glasgow have flown under the radar, apart from any discernible trends. Until now, their greatest achievement has been their criminally under-heard 2009 album Ashes Grammar, a panoramic collection of pastel-soft dream-pop that moved fluidly between ambient passages and hazy but immaculately structured pop songs like "Failure" and "Passionate Introverts (Dinosaurs)"
