Outrageous Cherry is an American psychedelic pop, power pop band from Detroit, Michigan, United States. Outrageous Cherry formed in 1991, and soon expanded to a four-piece after performing live in 1993. The group has released 12 albums, the most recent being 2014's The Digital Age. Larry Ray, the band's guitarist, died at the age of 63 from lung cancer on October 24, 2017. Matthew Smith - vocals, guitar. Colleen Burke - bass. Chad Gilchrist - bass.

Outrageous Cherry combined psychedelia, folk rock, art rock, and bubblegum music across more than 12 albums and nearly three decades. They attracted an international cult following and were a longstanding fixture in the Detroit rock and roll scene since their first gigs in 1991. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1994 on Bar/None Records, followed by a sequence of albums on different labels, including a couple of years signed to Alan McGee's Poptones label.

Outrageous Cherry returned to Third Gear for 1996's Stereo Action Rent Party, a covers album that included an inspired reworking of Petula Clark's "Sign of the Times," and the following year's second full-length Nothing's Gonna Cheer You Up, which featured some of their most expansive rockers as well as nuggets of bubblegum pop. In 1999, Outrageous Cherry moved to DF2K, the new music imprint of the classic '50s and '60s label Del-Fi, for the excellent Out There in the Dark
