Even though there are few surprises laid out on the album's five tracks, the elemental composition of pure '70s progressive rock is strewn across each song from start to finish. Squire even sounds like Jon Anderson, especially on "Hold out Your Hand," and each of the song's melodies cater to Squire's vocal ascent. Fish out of Water harbors some firm instrumental and vocal cross-breeding while remaining well within the prog rock norm.

Complete sua coleção de Chris Squire. I bought this album on recommendation of a bass playing co-worker back in 1975 upon it,s release! Chris Squire,s musical skills just astounded me from the minute the needle hit the vinyl. Lucky Seven is a gem and really has a rhythmic bounce and syncopation movement similar to a roller coaster ride. Responder Notifique-me Helpful.

Chris Squire was best known as the bassist and a founder member of the progressive rock band YES. He was the longest-serving original member, having remained in the band until his death and appearing on every studio album released from 1969 to 2014. Recorded in the late Spring and Summer of 1975 whilst YES was on hiatus as members recorded their respective solo albums, FISH OUT OF WATER was a breath-taking work, and equal in standard to any YES album in terms of sheer invention and creativity. The album sessions were a collaboration between Chris Squire and his friend Andrew Pryce Jackman, a gifted arranger who had been a member of The Syn, Squire’s pre-YES group.
Yes-like in every possible aspect, Chris Squire's Fish out of Water is an album that's typical of his band's progressive formula: softened keyboard extensions à la Patrick Moraz, steady yet atmospheric percussion work from Bill Bruford, and a smattering of flute and saxophone that accompanies a small orchestra, which includes effective horn and harp work. Even though there are few.
Fish Out Of Water allows us to take a closer look into the world of Yes. This album presents us with spectacular compositions, vocal lines, lyrical abilities and talent of bringing the perfect musicians to help Chris Squire deliver his personal vision and statement. The lyrics of Chris Squire are suspended in the balance of typical imagery of Yes and straightforwardness of his no nonsense personality coming to expression. Chris goes back to his childhood in one of England's most recognized church choirs and brings his choirmaster Barry Rose to play pipe organs during his chorister's. There is minimal guitar work on this album, which is also played by Chris Squire. That allows the bass guitar of its master to shine through and make Fish Out Of Water another spectacular album of 1975. 6 people found this helpful.
